THE REALLY IRISH? HOUSE PARTY
Brixton House & Wake the Beast present The Really Irish? House Party
“A bold and uplifting new musical telling the true story of a boy who hopes to defy expectations to produce the gift of power and give hope for tomorrow.”
09 — 12 June, Brixton House
The Really Irish? House Party is a live gathering celebrating the evolving experience of Irish identity, culture and belonging. Hosted by Emma Dabiri, the evening brings together live music, spoken word, theatre and conversation exploring migration, mixed heritage and diasporic Irishness.
Across the night, audiences can experience a special collaboration between South African and Irish musicians, live performances, storytelling and a standing programme of artistic interventions throughout the space. The evening closes with a DJ set from DJ Tidy, moving the room from reflection into celebration.
Created for diasporic communities, blended identities and anyone curious about the changing story of Irishness, the event captures the warmth, intimacy and energy of a great Irish house gathering in the heart of Brixton. The Really Irish? House Party builds on conversations around identity, migration and cultural inheritance, creating space for voices and experiences that have often existed at the edges of traditional ideas of Irishness. Blending performance and community exchange, the night centres stories that are layered, complex, joyful and deeply personal.
