NATTY TAKES A BREATH

Natty Takes A Breath by Sara Amanda

18 — 19 March, Etcetera Theatre

Natty Takes a Breath is a gripping, one-woman performance set inside a casting room, where an actress enters an audition expecting a straightforward professional exchange. As she responds to notes and adjustments, the encounter becomes distorted and the language of the room shifts. That’s when performance becomes survival. The audience is embedded in this narrowing space, experiencing every pause and recalibration. Each breath becomes the difference between holding it together and completely losing it.

Sara Amanda, the Writer and Director says: “Black women’s stories are often compressed or overlooked. Showcasing Natty Takes a Breath at the Women’s Writers Festival, among so many other incredible pieces of work, is my way of giving a voice where we’re taught to endure in silence”
